History
The hotel is in a Wilhelminian style building built in 1894. Otto Kushmann and Friedrich Schulze built it for the business man Otto Dannhoff as an apartment building with restaurant areas on the ground floor. Renaissance stepped gables and a man-at-arms figure decorate the attractive façade.
The house was not just occupied for many years by the “Haus Hohenzollern” restaurant but also by the Pohlsche music conservatory. The building was severely damaged in the Second World War. Post-war proprietors did not have the means to restore the glory of the façade. However until 1981 the Lehmann landlord and landlady ran the “Kastanienhof” restaurant with a small bed and breakfast in the building with great commitment. In 1984 the new owners of the building had it totally revamped; the “Kronprinz Berlin” hotel emerged.
