History
People have been using the sulphur springs of the present day “Hotel Prinz-Luitpold-Bad” as a mineral spring since the 17th century. Accommodation for mineral spring visitors was established in 1864; in 1868 the hotel already had 24 rooms. In 1888 the Prince Regent bestowed the name “Prinz Luitpold sulphur mineral spa”. The design in the public areas is shaped by history - an art nouveau lead glass ceiling from 1890, neo-gothic panelling, library and fireplace from a Scottish castle from 1832. The building itself was constantly renovated and developed. In the Second World War the hotel served some of the time as a reserves military hospital, in 1945 the owner Albert Gross was born in room 102.
