History

The property has existed for over 550 years. In 1460 it appears for the first time in records as “Hof zu Westerndorf”. Ever since then the property has been a farm with bakery and licensed house, for some of the time also with a mill.

In 1663 the elector Ferdinand Maria approved a beer bar. The Niederauer family ran the inn from 1910. In 1982 Günther and Christl Karner acquired the house and named it “Landgasthof Karner”. They renovated the property until 1986, preserved the listed structure and made it into a hotel which is not just known for its many awards way beyond the borders of Bavaria.
