Hotel Rodderhof

History

The Augustinian monks from Klosterrath near Aachen founded the former Klosterrather Hof directly opposite the water gate within the city walls of Ahrweiler in the year 1248. The present day Rodderhof was the centre of the property management.

The hotel came about through close collaboration with the Rhineland-Palatinate historical monument protection authorities. Existing masonry was restored and incorporated into the project. The court consists of a two-storey quarry stone construction, a building wing connecting at right angles and a sprawling outbuilding. The courtyard perfectly completes a one and a half storey building from more recent times. Other historical decorations are a baluster staircase and the impressive stuccoed ceiling on the ground floor.
