Posthotel Riehemann

History

The tradesman Melchor Drerup received permission in 1827 to build a “restaurant for scholars”, the current Posthotel Riehemann. Then in 1836, nine years later, Melchor Drerup set up the first royal Prussian stage post for the Borghorst area in this building. The landlord was therefore restaurateur, hotelier and post master rolled into one.
